THE RHA Collection:
What is RHA filler and what makes it so special- It is the first and only FDA-Approved HA Filler for Dynamic Facial Wrinkles and Folds With just one treatment, you’ll get smooth and natural-looking results that last. Dynamic wrinkles and folds appear in areas of the face which move repetitively.
What are Dynamic Facial Lines?
Dynamic lines, or expression lines, are caused by repetitive muscle movements we use to make different facial expressions.
Most Noticeable Expression Lines:
Nasolabial Folds: Laugh or smile lines
Glabella Wrinkles: Forehead furrows
Perioral Wrinkles: Lines around the lips and mouth
RHA® is designed to be resilient enough to adapt to your facial movement. RHA® uses a gentle manufacturing process with few chemical modifications. The RHA® Collection of Fillers mimics natural hyaluronic acid (also known as HA), which seamlessly blends in with your skin to create results that are as natural as you. The RHA® Collection is unique because their filler consists of the longest HA chains available on the market. These long HA chains are identical to natural HA chains found within the body, leading to results that look and move naturally. RHA® Fillers are only available at exclusive practices, meaning this collection of fillers (created by the co-founder of Juvederm®) is only available at the finest practices worldwide. Absolute Face Bar and Dr. Zimmerman is proud to offer the RHA® Collection of Fillers to our clients.
The 3 Levels of The RHA® Collection
There are three levels in the RHA® collection, each formulated for different levels of stretch and strength. The different levels are formulated to meet your unique needs depending on the progression of wrinkle or fold development.
RHA®2: Treats moderate dynamic wrinkles and lines usually found around your lips and mouth.
RHA®3: Reduces moderate to severe wrinkles and folds around your face including the nose and mouth.
RHA®4: Adds volume to the contours of your face to treat severe wrinkles and folds.
Decoding the problem areas?
Most common treatable areas include:
Smile Lines or "Parentheses" - the crease extending from the nose to the sides of the mouth.
Nasolabials Folds run vertically from the bottom of the nose to the corners of the mouth
Marionette Lines are the vertical deep folds that form below the corners of the mouth. These lines can sometimes give the appearance of sagging and/or a down-turned expression.
Vertical Lip Lines - Facial wrinkles above and around the lips can begin to appear over time due to ordinary muscle movement. However, environmental factors such as exposure to sunlight, smoking, and stress can also contribute to the formation of vertical lip lines
Cheek Flattening - one of the most important places to restore volume from loss of youthful fat pads. Treatment to this area lifts the face for a more youthful look
Chin Augmentation - to balance the face or restore bone loss due to aging
Sunken Tear Troughs - the bags under the eyes
Scars - fill in sunken areas, improving symmetry
Backs of the Hands
Does the treatment hurt?
Most of our patients here at Absolute Face Bar do not require numbing cream. Injections may cause some discomfort during and after the injection. If you are concerned about discomfort, Dr. Zimmerman may recommend applying a topical numbing cream before administering your treatment.

When will I see results?
You will notice results immediately after treatment with results lasting 6 -12months
When will I need a follow up?
Follow up needs depend on the treatment area but Dr. Zimmerman recommends every 6 months when most fillers have dissolved.
Will I be able to receive the Dermal Fillers treatment at the time of my consultation?
You and Dr. Zimmerman will discuss your treatment goals and discuss the timing of your treatment. For the most part, dermal fillers can be done at the same day as the visit if desired but sometimes it is case-by-case. If you are wanting to schedule a same day visit, please clarify when booking your appointment.
Are there any medical conditions that prevent me from receiving dermal fillers?
Dr. Zimmerman will ask about your medical history to determine if you are an appropriate candidate for treatment. JUVÉDERM®, RHA Collection and Restylane should not be used in patients who have severe allergies marked by a history of anaphylaxis or history or presence of multiple severe allergies.
Other contraindications include:
Pregnant, trying to get pregnant or women who are currently nursing.
Neurological diseases such as: Multiple Sclerosis, Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, or Muscular Dystrophy
Severe allergies or history of allergies to gram-positive bacterial proteins.
Allergy to Lidocaine.
What are my pre and post treatment instructions?
Although unlikely, occasionally, these side effects can occur - tenderness, swelling, firmness, lumps/bumps, bruising, pain, redness, discoloration, and itching.
This list is not meant to be inclusive of all possible risks associated with dermal fillers as there are both known and unknown side effects associated with any medication or procedure.
Bleeding Aspirin and anti-inflammatory medications may increase this risk. Temporarily discontinuing these medications ten days prior to the dermal filler injection may help decrease these symptoms.
Redness, Swelling, Pain at the Injection Site, Tenderness, Itching and Raised Bumps of Skin (Nodules) These symptoms are expected and are usually mild and typically last a few days but can last up to a month. They may be relieved by gently applying ice to the treated area.
Bruising Typically very mild and lasting a few days. In very rare cases, bruising can last several months and even be permanent at the injection site. The risk of bruising increases with consumption of alcohol within 24 hours of injection.
Infection Post treatment bacterial, viral and/or fungal infections can occur which in most cases are easily treatable. It is important to reach out to the office if you suspect a possible infection at the injection site. In rare cases, a permanent scar in the area can occur.
Allergic Reactions Although rare, there may be an allergic reaction to the injection. Some of the dermal fillers contain lidocaine. If I have an allergy to lidocaine, I understand it is my responsibility to inform my provider prior to injection.
Partial Blindness There is a rare but possible occurrence of vascular occlusion with fillers which could lead to temporary blindness.
Unevenness As dermal fillers are not an exact science, there is a chance for an uneven appearance of the face with some areas more affected by the filler than others. In most cases, this uneven appearance can be corrected by additional injections in the same or nearby areas. In some cases, an uneven appearance can persist for several weeks and/or months.
§ Cold Sores Notify Dr. Zimmerman if you have a history of cold sores, as the injection can trigger a flare up.
BEFORE THE PROCEDURE
Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medication ideally for a period of two weeks before treatment. Medications and supplements such as aspirin, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, St. John’s Wort, ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve, and other NSAIDs are all blood thinning and can increase risk of bruising/swelling after injections.
Schedule dermal filler appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a special event which may be occurring, i.e., wedding, vacation, family portrait, etc. It is not desirable to have a very special event occurring and be bruised from an injection which could have been avoided.
Notify Dr. Zimmerman if you have a history of cold sores, as the injection can sometimes trigger a flare up.
POST-PROCEDURE
You may apply cool/ice pack to the area for 24 hours after treatment to reduce swelling and bruising.
You may apply Arnica gel to the area or take oral Arnica if you would like to help reduce potential bruising.
AVOID Aspirin, Motrin, Gingko Biloba, excessive garlic, Flax oil, Cod Liver oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, or any other essential fatty acids at least 3 days to 1 week before and after filler treatment.
Avoid vigorous exercise and sun and heat exposure for 24 hours after treatment.
If the lips are treated, avoid lipstick for 24-48 hours. Earlier use can cause small pustules. Do not touch or mold the treated area within 6 hours following the treatment. Apply make-up lightly.
Do NOT touch, press, rub or manipulate the treated areas for 6 hours after treatment. You can cause irritation, sores, and/or problems, and possible scarring if you do.
You must wait 2 weeks before retreating or correction to allow swelling to dissipate.
Avoid facial treatments/waxing, Glycolic or AHA peels, or laser treatments for 7-14 days after treatment.
If you notice any lumps area after the swelling has subsided, gently massage the area with clean fingertips.
Moderate amount of swelling immediately post treatment is normal. If excessive swelling, bruising or signs of infection occur, please contact the office immediately (513-966-2998). Signs of infection include:
Drainage that looks like pus
Increased warmth in the treatment area
Significant tenderness or pain in the treatment area
Fever of 101.5 of greater
